Delhi Restaurant Allegedly Denies Entry to Couple in Indian Attire; CM Steps In

A Delhi restaurant has come under fire after a video surfaced online showing a couple being denied entry allegedly due to their Indian attire. The incident, which reportedly took place at a restaurant in the Pitampura area, quickly gained traction on social media and sparked widespread outrage.
In the viral clip, the couple shares their experience, alleging that they were refused entry while others were being let in. They claimed that the restaurant staff misbehaved with them, and the individual recording the video demanded the restaurant be shut down for its discriminatory behavior.
The video prompted a swift response from Delhi cabinet minister Kapil Mishra, who confirmed that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had been informed. “This is unacceptable in Delhi. CM @gupta_rekhaji has taken serious note of the incident. Officials have been directed to investigate and take immediate action,” Mishra posted on social media.
In an update, Mishra stated that the restaurant operators had agreed to remove any dress code restrictions and would now welcome patrons in Indian attire. As a goodwill gesture, the restaurant also committed to offering special discounts on Raksha Bandhan to women dressed in traditional Indian clothes.
However, restaurant owner Neeraj Aggarwal refuted the allegations, claiming the couple was denied entry only because they didn’t have a reservation, not because of what they were wearing. He added that the restaurant does not enforce any dress code and that all customers are welcome.
The incident sparked a broader debate online, with many calling for action against the restaurant. Some users demanded its license be revoked, while others expressed frustration that intervention from the Chief Minister was needed just for people to be allowed into a restaurant wearing Indian clothes.
