Delhi Implements Work-From-Home for 50% Government Staff as Air Quality Deteriorates

As Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) hit a hazardous level of 526 on November 20, the state government has taken urgent measures to mitigate the impact. In a General Administrative Department order, the Delhi government directed all government and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) offices to operate with only 50% of staff on-site, with the remaining employees working from home.

Staggered Office Timings Introduced
To further reduce pollution and traffic congestion, the government also implemented staggered office hours:

MCD Offices: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM

Delhi Government Offices: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM

AAP leader Gopal Rai confirmed the decision, emphasizing the need to protect public health amid the alarming pollution levels. “To reduce pollution, the Delhi government decided to implement work-from-home for 50% of employees. A meeting will be held at 1 PM today to finalize the implementation plan,” he stated.

The directive aims to ease the capital’s pollution crisis, which continues to endanger residents’ health. Citizens are urged to take precautions and minimize outdoor exposure.
