Dalit Man Humiliated and Assaulted in Gujarat Over Alleged Relationship

Sabarkantha, Gujarat: A shocking incident of violence and public humiliation has surfaced from a village near Idar town in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district. A young Dalit man was brutally assaulted and paraded naked by a group of people, allegedly led by the husband and family members of a married woman he was reportedly in a relationship with.
A video of the incident, which took place on the night of March 11, went viral on social media, prompting police action. The footage shows the young man, seemingly in his twenties, being forced to walk naked while being harassed and beaten by a mob.
“After the video surfaced, we registered an FIR against the woman’s husband and his relatives. The victim was abducted from his home in Idar, about 20 km from Himmatnagar, assaulted, and made to sign an apology letter before being released,” said Sabarkantha Superintendent of Police Vijay Patel.
The accused have been charged with multiple offences, including abduction and assault, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. However, as of now, no arrests have been made.
The incident has sparked outrage, raising concerns over caste-based violence and vigilante justice. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the case.
