Court Issues Fresh Warrant Against Pragya Thakur After Repeated Absences in Malegaon Blast Case

Mumbai: A special court in Mumbai on Wednesday issued a new bailable warrant against former BJP MP Pragya Thakur, one of the main accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, after she once again failed to appear in court, citing health concerns.
This is the second such warrant issued against Thakur within the span of this month by the court overseeing National Investigation Agency (NIA) cases. Earlier, on November 5, the court had directed her to attend the hearings, issuing a bailable warrant when she did not show up. Despite the court’s instructions, Thakur was absent again on November 13.
The repeated absences have raised questions about the pace of the trial, which has already seen numerous delays. The court is now pressing for compliance to ensure progress in the long-pending case related to the tragic 2008 blast that claimed multiple lives.
