Boxing Federation of India Suspends Secretary General and Treasurer Over Financial Misconduct

Investigation Finds Top Officials Guilty of Fund Mismanagement and Irregularities

New Delhi:
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has taken strict action against Secretary General Hemanta Kumar Kalita and Treasurer Digvijay Singh, suspending them from their roles after an independent investigation uncovered serious financial irregularities.

The probe, led by Justice (Retd.) Sudhir Kumar Jain, was initiated following a complaint from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) regarding unauthorized fund withdrawals, fraudulent billing, and abuse of power. The investigation found both officials guilty of mismanagement of funds and breach of fiduciary duties.

BFI President’s Strong Action

In an official letter to Kalita and Singh, BFI President Ajay Singh stated:

The independent report confirms financial misconduct, leading to their immediate suspension.

Both officials must cease all duties and refrain from referring to themselves as BFI office-bearers.

The suspension is aimed at ensuring transparency and restoring integrity within the Federation.

The move signals a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in Indian sports governance, reinforcing accountability within the country’s boxing administration.
