BJP Slams Rahul Gandhi Over Alleged Abuse Of PM Modi At Bihar Rally

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal’s (RJD) Tejashwi Yadav of using “extremely abusive” language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi, during a Bihar election campaign rally.

In a strong statement on X, the BJP alleged that the opposition’s “Voter Adhikar Yatra” had crossed all boundaries of “insult, hatred, and low-level politics.” The party said, “Tejashwi and Rahul used such filthy language from their stage… words that cannot even be repeated. Even if Rahul Gandhi apologised a thousand times, the people of Bihar will never forgive him. This is extremely shameful.”

A 33-second video clip from the rally in Darbhanga, which showed Congress workers shouting alleged insults against the Prime Minister while waving flags and spraying confetti, went viral, triggering the controversy. The Congress has distanced itself from the video and the accusations of abusive language.

The BJP also criticised the INDIA bloc for bringing leaders from southern states, including Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, to campaign in Bihar, calling it an “insult to Biharis.”

BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi, saying, “The people of Bihar love PM Modi and will not tolerate such abuses.”

Meanwhile, the campaign season in Bihar has already been heated by the Election Commission’s “special intensive revision” (SIR) of the voter list. Opposition parties allege the exercise is designed to disenfranchise lakhs of voters to benefit the ruling BJP-JDU alliance, while the BJP insists it is meant to remove fake voters.

The revision exercise has already struck 65 lakh names from the rolls due to death, relocation, and other reasons, and is currently under Supreme Court review.

To counter what it calls “voter fraud,” Rahul Gandhi has launched a ‘Voter Adhikar’ (voter rights) rally across Bihar, which began on August 17 and will conclude in Patna on Monday.
