Bigg Boss Kannada Studio Sealed For Violations, Contestants Evacuated From Set

In a dramatic turn of events, the Karnataka government sealed Jollywood Studios and Adventures, the shooting location of Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12, on Tuesday night over multiple violations and lack of required permissions.
Following the order from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), all contestants were asked to immediately vacate the Bigg Boss house and were escorted off the premises.
The closure was personally supervised by Ramanagara Tahsildar Tejaswini, and operations at the studio were halted. Over 700 technical crew members, who had been working in shifts for the past six months, were also sent home.
The Bigg Boss house, reportedly built at a cost of over ₹5 crore and designed like a palace to reflect host Kichcha Sudeep’s grand vision, has now been officially sealed. Contestants have been temporarily shifted to Eagleton Resort, according to sources.
Violation Of Environmental Norms
The KSPCB cited non-compliance with environmental regulations and operation without permissions under the Water and Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Acts as the reason for the shutdown.
Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre confirmed that despite multiple warnings, the studio continued its operations illegally.
“No one is above the law. Action will be taken as per the provisions of the law,” he said.
He added that Vels Studios and Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., which runs Jollywood Studios, ignored repeated notices issued since March 2024 and continued operating without the necessary clearances, violating both Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) guidelines.
Power Connection Under Scrutiny
Authorities also alleged that the power connection at the studio was illegal, and notices had earlier been issued to disconnect it. The KSPCB directed BESCOM to ensure immediate power disconnection.
The order was issued under Section 31(A) of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and Rule 20(A) of the Karnataka Air Pollution Control Rules, 1983.
Minister Khandre said that while the show’s organisers can appeal the order in court, the government would continue to uphold the law strictly.
