Autopsy Reveals Tennis Player Radhika Yadav Was Shot Four Times by Her Father

Radhika Yadav, a 25-year-old national-level tennis player, was fatally shot four times by her father at their residence in Gurugram’s upscale Sushant Lok locality, according to her post-mortem report. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, and her father, 49-year-old Deepak Yadav, has since confessed to the crime and been taken into custody.
Police reports suggest the murder stemmed from ongoing tensions between father and daughter over her professional choices. Radhika had been managing a tennis academy, which reportedly triggered repeated arguments at home. Gurugram Police spokesperson Sandeep Singh confirmed that Deepak was unhappy with his daughter running the academy, which he viewed as unnecessary given the family’s rental income and financial security.
“Despite multiple demands from her father to shut it down, Radhika continued with the academy. In a fit of rage, he fired five shots, four of which hit her—three in the back—killing her instantly,” Singh said.
Her uncle, Kuldeep Yadav, stated that he was on the ground floor when he heard a loud bang. Upon rushing upstairs, he found Radhika lying in a pool of blood and Deepak’s licensed .32 bore revolver in the drawing room.
Radhika was a promising player with a national-level profile. Though she participated only in qualifying rounds during recent tournaments in Indore and Kuala Lumpur, she had once achieved a career-best All India Tennis Association (AITA) under-18 ranking of 75 and a women’s singles ranking of 35. She was also ranked 1999 in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) rankings.
Her sudden and tragic death has sent shockwaves through the Indian tennis community and raised concerns over domestic violence and mental health awareness in families.
