Auto Driver Kidnaps, Gang-Rapes, and Stabs Woman in Odisha: Police Launch Investigation

A horrifying crime occurred in Odisha’s Jajpur town on the night of April 22, when a woman, in her late 20s, was kidnapped by an auto-rickshaw driver, gang-raped, and stabbed multiple times. The chilling details of the incident emerged on Sunday after the woman, whose condition had improved, came forward to file a police complaint.
The woman had been returning home from work and hailed an auto-rickshaw. However, instead of taking her home, the driver took her to a remote, isolated area on the outskirts of Jajpur. According to the police report, there were two men in the auto when she entered, and at the secluded spot, they were joined by three more drunk men.
The accused tied the woman’s hands with her dupatta, assaulted her, and stabbed her with a knife before abandoning her in the spot, leaving her to die. Miraculously, she managed to get help from a passerby, who contacted her family. She was rushed to the Jajpur district hospital in critical condition, suffering from severe wounds to her back, hands, and palms.
Following the woman’s brave report, police have launched an investigation and have vowed to apprehend all those responsible. Inspector Sarat Chandra Patra of Jajpur Town police station assured that they are working swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The woman’s courage in speaking out has brought attention to the horrific violence she endured, and the community is now rallying behind her as police pursue the offenders.
