Atishi Finally Allotted Ansari Road Bungalow After Long Wait, PWD Sanctions Renovation Worth ₹39 Lakh

After months of uncertainty and multiple requests, former Delhi Chief Minister and current Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi has been officially allotted a government bungalow at 115 Ansari Road in Daryaganj, New Delhi.
According to sources, the Public Works Department (PWD) has also floated a tender for renovation and repair work on the bungalow, with an estimated budget of ₹39 lakh. The bungalow has been lying vacant for over a year and, as per a senior PWD official, is in need of extensive interior repairs, including changes in tiling, drainage systems, and the kitchen.
Earlier, Atishi had sought permission to retain the AB-17 Mathura Road bungalow, a residence previously occupied by former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. However, PWD officials clarified that the Mathura Road residence falls under the Centre’s pool of government accommodations and thus could not be reassigned under inter-pool transfer norms.
AAP sources revealed that Atishi had written to the PWD in March, requesting the Ansari Road bungalow. “We had requested this allotment in March, but it’s unfortunate that the approval has only come now,” said a source from the party. The same bungalow had earlier been offered to her during her brief stint as Chief Minister, after the 6 Flagstaff Road bungalow was taken back amid an ongoing CBI investigation.
The Flagstaff Road residence had been the official home of Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s former Chief Minister, from 2015 until September 2024, when he vacated it following the probe.
Despite the delay, the allotment of the Ansari Road residence brings some closure to Atishi’s accommodation woes, allowing her to finally settle into her new role in the opposition.
