Arshdeep Singh Delivers 13-Ball Over With 7 Wides; Gambhir’s Furious Reaction Goes Viral

India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh had a night to forget during the second T20I against South Africa in Mullanpur, delivering an unprecedented 13-ball over that included 7 wides, leaking 18 runs in total.
His struggle began immediately—Quinton de Kock smashed the first ball for six. Under pressure, Arshdeep then bowled two consecutive wides outside off-stump, followed by a dot ball that de Kock missed while trying a reverse lap. What followed was even worse: five more wides, making it one of the most expensive and chaotic overs by an Indian bowler in T20I history.
With this, Arshdeep equalled Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq’s record for the longest over by a bowler from a full-member nation. Naveen had delivered 13 balls in an over against Zimbabwe last year. Arshdeep now holds the unwanted distinction of bowling the longest over by an Indian in T20Is.
India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir was visibly upset with the pacer’s performance. His stern, frustrated reaction—caught on camera—has gone viral across social media platforms.
Earlier, India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and chose to bowl, citing dew and favourable conditions. India entered the match with a 1-0 lead after a dominant 101-run victory in the first T20I.
At the toss, Suryakumar praised the bowlers’ previous performance and highlighted the importance of Hardik Pandya’s all-round balance. South Africa’s skipper Aiden Markram also said his team would have preferred to bowl first but planned to put a strong total on the board.
