Air India Reshuffles Senior Management Ahead of Vistara Merger; Vistara CEO to Lead Post-Merger Integration

As Air India gears up for its merger with Vistara on November 12, the Air India Group has announced a reshuffling of its senior leadership to streamline the transition.

Vistara’s Leadership to Oversee Integration

Vinod Kanan, the CEO of Vistara, who is also serving as Chief Integration Officer for the merger, will continue to lead the integration process post-merger. Kanan will join Air India’s management committee, reporting directly to CEO Campbell Wilson.

Key Management Changes

Deepak Rajawat, Vistara’s Chief Commercial Officer, will move to the role of Chief Financial Officer at Air India Express. He will report to Air India Express CEO Aloke Singh and support Air India Group CFO Sanjay Sharma on strategic projects.

Vikas Agarwal, currently CFO of Air India Express, will transition into a new role within Air India.

In flight operations, Hamish Maxwell, Vistara’s Senior Vice President, will now serve as an advisor to the CEO of Air India Express.

Pushpinder Singh, Chief Operations Officer at Air India Express, will return to flying duties, with a successor to be named soon.

Other Notable Transitions

Deepa Chadha, Senior Vice President of HR & Corporate Affairs at Vistara, and Vinod Bhatt, Chief Information Officer, will move into senior roles within other Tata Group companies.

Niyant Maru, Vistara’s CFO who extended his term to assist with the merger, will retire once the integration is complete.

Reflecting on Two Years of Transformation

Air India CEO Campbell Wilson highlighted the progress over the past two years, stating, “The four Tata airlines have worked diligently to execute one of the most complex mergers in aviation history, consolidating from four carriers into two amidst significant growth and transformation. With the process nearing completion, we have established a leadership team to drive the next phase of our journey.”

This reshuffle marks a significant step forward as Air India and Vistara prepare to join forces under the Tata Group, aiming for a streamlined and unified operation.
