Air India Flight to London Returns Mid-Air Amid Escalating Iran-Israel Conflict

Amid rising tensions between Iran and Israel, an Air India flight from Mumbai to London had to turn back after flying for three hours, as per flight tracking service Flightradar24. The flight, which departed from Mumbai at 5:39 am, was forced to return due to sudden airspace restrictions imposed in the region.

Air India expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured passengers that they are working round-the-clock to minimise disruptions. “We are providing accommodation to affected passengers and offering full refunds or complimentary rescheduling for those who prefer it,” the airline said in a statement.

The global aviation industry is witnessing a wave of flight cancellations and rerouting, as both Iran and Israel shut down parts of their airspace following Israeli airstrikes in the early hours, which targeted nuclear facilities and key military positions in Iran.

Israel has also imposed a complete airspace lockdown and heightened its emergency preparedness at its northern and southern borders in anticipation of possible retaliation.
