Air India Express Hyderabad-Phuket Flight Returns After Technical Glitch; IndiGo Flight Also Diverted Over Safety Concerns

Hyderabad:
An Air India Express flight (IX 110) en route from Hyderabad to Phuket was forced to return shortly after takeoff on Saturday due to a technical issue. In an official statement, an airline spokesperson said, “Shortly after take-off, crew on one of our flights exercised abundant caution and elected to return to Hyderabad on account of a technical issue.”
The airline promptly arranged for a replacement aircraft, offered refreshments to the passengers during the delay, and ensured the resumed flight departed safely. “We regret the inconvenience caused and reiterate that safety remains our top priority in every aspect of our operations,” the spokesperson added.
In a separate incident on July 16, an IndiGo flight (6E 6271) traveling from Delhi to Goa was diverted to Mumbai mid-air following a technical snag. The aircraft, originally scheduled to land at Goa’s Manohar International Airport, was rerouted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), where it landed safely.
“An alternate aircraft has been arranged for passengers, and the affected aircraft is undergoing checks and maintenance,” said an IndiGo spokesperson. The airline apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized that customer and crew safety is paramount.
Following the emergency diversion, CSMIA declared a full emergency at 21:35 hrs, which was withdrawn at 21:57 hrs after the plane landed safely at 21:52 hrs. “Passengers were safely deboarded and assisted by terminal staff. Airport operations remain unaffected,” the CSMIA spokesperson confirmed.
Both incidents underline the strict safety protocols in place and the aviation authorities’ commitment to ensuring passenger security, even amid unforeseen challenges.
