UAE Under Attack: Missiles and Drones Intercepted as Rising Tensions Bring Tragedy and Disruption

The United Arab Emirates faced a tense and dangerous situation on Tuesday as its defence systems successfully intercepted multiple incoming threats amid the ongoing conflict involving Iran. According to officials, around 10 ballistic missiles and 45 drones were shot down before they could cause major damage.
Since the escalation began, the UAE has reportedly neutralised hundreds of threats, including 314 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and over 1,600 drones—highlighting the intensity of the situation.
Despite these efforts, tragedy struck in Abu Dhabi. Authorities confirmed that falling debris from a destroyed missile led to the death of one person in the Bani Yas area. The incident has raised concerns about the risks civilians face even when attacks are intercepted.
At the same time, multiple locations across the country were targeted. A drone strike in Fujairah Oil Industry Zone triggered a fire, with emergency crews working quickly to control the situation. Nearly simultaneously, another drone hit a fuel tank near Dubai International Airport, forcing a temporary shutdown of operations.
Flights at the airport were briefly suspended, with several rerouted to Al Maktoum International Airport. Fortunately, services began gradually returning to normal later in the day after authorities confirmed the fire had been extinguished.
In another incident, a drone attack caused a fire at the Shah gas field in Abu Dhabi. While emergency teams managed to bring the situation under control, operations at the facility were temporarily halted. Officials reported damage but confirmed there were no injuries at the site.
Earlier, a separate missile strike in the Al Bahyah area claimed the life of a Palestinian national after a civilian vehicle was hit—marking yet another loss as tensions in the region continue to escalate.
As the conflict unfolds, the situation remains highly volatile, with authorities on high alert and residents facing growing uncertainty across the UAE.
