Mandana Karimi Says She Is Leaving India Over Security Fears: “It Doesn’t Feel Like Home Anymore”

Actor and activist Mandana Karimi has announced that she plans to leave India, citing security concerns and an increasing sense of isolation following her outspoken criticism of the Iranian regime.

When asked directly whether she was seriously considering moving out of the country, Mandana responded without hesitation:
“Yes, I am, because of security reasons. I can’t share details until I am out.”

“It Has Come At A Cost”

Mandana, who has consistently used her platform to speak against the leadership of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said her activism has had consequences.

For years, she has spoken publicly about political developments in Iran, voicing support for protest movements and criticising authorities. She suggested that her refusal to remain silent has made her vulnerable.

“My way of supporting Iran in India. Being so vocal about the reality. Calling out officials. And not giving up. There are many reasons. My fight has been there for years in India. And now it just doesn’t make sense,” she said.

In a stark admission, when asked whether she had received death threats, Mandana replied with a single word: “Always.”

“No Support From Anyone”

The actor also claimed she received little support during difficult moments.

“No. None. Not from friends, the government or the media. That’s why. It doesn’t feel like home here anymore. It’s been hard. But everything is in the name of Iran, Javid Shah and my people. I would do it again even without support,” she said.

Her comments reflect a deep emotional strain, as well as a feeling of displacement despite having built her career in India.

Political Stand Remains Firm

Even as she prepares to leave, Mandana made it clear that her political position remains unchanged. Referring to slogans heard in recent protests, she said the chants of “Javid Shah” originated within Iran itself, not abroad.

She also mentioned Reza Pahlavi, describing him as a central figure in what she views as a more organised phase of opposition.

“This time, we are not leaderless. This time, we are organised. This time, we are ready,” she said.

While her future location remains undisclosed, Mandana Karimi’s message is clear: her departure from India does not signal a retreat from activism. Instead, she says, it is a decision driven by safety not silence.
