Social Media Prankster Sentenced to Jail for Grabbing Ariana Grande at Singapore ‘Wicked’ Premiere

A Singaporean social media prankster has been sentenced to nine days in jail after grabbing Ariana Grande on the red carpet during the Wicked: For Good Asia premiere last week.

Johnson Wen, 26, pleaded guilty on Monday to a charge of public nuisance, according to reports from Page Six and Daily Mail. Wen, who is known for crashing celebrity events, had leapt over a barricade and rushed toward the singer, wrapping an arm around her as she posed with co-stars.

Singapore District Judge Christopher Goh called Wen’s conduct “premeditated” and part of a pattern of attention-seeking behaviour, warning that such actions put others at risk.

“You are thinking only of yourself and not the safety of others,” the judge told Wen, adding that it was “wrong” to assume incidents like this would carry no consequences.

After sentencing, Wen promised the court he would change his behaviour, saying, “I won’t do it again. I am going to stop getting into trouble.”

The incident left Grande visibly shocked as Wen excitedly waved to the crowd after grabbing her, prompting immediate security intervention.
