Truck Carrying LPG Cylinders Catches Fire After Collision On Jaipur-Ajmer Highway

Jaipur:
A major accident occurred on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Tuesday night when a truck loaded with LPG cylinders caught fire following a collision with another truck, police said.

The impact of the collision caused several cylinders to explode, triggering multiple blasts that affected nearby vehicles. The flames and explosions were so intense that they were visible and audible from several kilometres away.

Police teams and fire brigade personnel quickly reached the spot near the Dudu area, and traffic movement on the highway was suspended as a precautionary measure.

Acting on Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s instructions, Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa rushed to the site to assess the situation. He informed reporters that the drivers and cleaners of both trucks were currently untraceable, and efforts were underway to locate them.

“There is no confirmed report of casualties yet,” Mr. Bairwa said.

Senior police officials and district administrators were present at the site to oversee rescue operations. Meanwhile, the SMS Hospital in Jaipur was placed on high alert, and emergency arrangements were made to handle any potential injuries.

Notably, a similar tragedy occurred in December last year on the same highway when an LPG tanker collided with a truck near Bhankrota, igniting a massive fire that killed 19 people.
