Movie-Style Police Chase In Punjab As Suspected Drug Car Tries To Flee

What started as a routine highway check quickly turned into a dramatic 30-minute chase in Punjab’s Moga district, after the driver of a hatchback suspected of carrying drugs refused to stop.
Police had received a tip-off that drugs were being smuggled in a Hyundai i20, which was flagged down at the Bagha Purana toll plaza. Instead of slowing down, the driver stepped on the accelerator and sped off — triggering a high-speed chase through the streets and narrow lanes of Bagha Purana.
Part of the chase was captured on CCTV and looked straight out of an action movie. The footage shows the i20 tearing through a narrow lane, and then suddenly reversing at high speed after the driver changes direction. While reversing, the car crashes into two parked scooters, briefly allowing the police Mahindra Scorpio to close in.
Two policemen jump out of the Scorpio and run towards the hatchback — one of them even striking the vehicle with a stick — before the chase continues again.
After almost 30 minutes, the driver was finally caught and arrested. He has been identified as Tejinder Singh, a resident of Damru Khurd.
“The driver has been taken into custody and the car has also been seized. He is being questioned about the reason for fleeing,” said SHO Jatinder Kumar.
Police are currently investigating whether drugs were indeed being transported in the vehicle.
