Punjab Police Foil Major Terror Plot Linked to Babbar Khalsa Ahead of Independence Day

In a major security breakthrough just a day before Independence Day, Punjab Police have arrested two suspected Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operatives who were allegedly plotting grenade attacks on government buildings.

According to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, the suspects — Harpreet Singh alias Preet from Tarn Taran and Gulshan Singh alias Nandu from Amritsar — were working under the directions of Pakistan-based BKI leader Harwinder Singh Rinda. Acting on intelligence inputs, Counter Intelligence (CI) Ferozepur teams nabbed the duo in Talwandi Bhai, recovering two hand grenades, a 9mm pistol, and five live cartridges.

This comes just two days after Punjab Police busted another BKI terror module, arresting five people (including three juveniles) in Rajasthan and seizing more weapons.

Investigations have revealed that the suspects were in contact with handlers based in the UK, US, and Europe, and were planning to target key government and police establishments to disrupt peace in the border state. Authorities say further interrogations will focus on uncovering their wider network and exact plans.
