Sikh Man Fatally Stabbed in London, Five Arrested Including Three Women

London:
A 30-year-old British Sikh man, Gurmuk Singh—also known as Gary—was fatally stabbed in Ilford, East London, on July 23. Authorities believe the attack involved individuals known to each other.
The Metropolitan Police formally identified the victim and confirmed the arrest of 27-year-old Amardeep Singh, who has been charged with one count of murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at London’s Old Bailey on January 5, 2026, for trial.
Police responded to reports of an altercation at a residential property on Felbrigge Road. Despite efforts by the London Ambulance Service to save him, Gary succumbed to stab wounds at the scene. A post-mortem examination revealed the fatal injury was a stab wound to the left thigh. An inquest has been opened and adjourned as investigations continue.
In addition to Amardeep Singh, detectives arrested four other individuals—one man aged 29, and three women aged 29, 30, and 54—in connection with the incident. All four have been released on bail until October as enquiries proceed.
“Gary was a well-loved man with a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he met,” said his family in a statement released by police. “A true social butterfly, nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by loved ones. He will be deeply missed, and his memory will live on in our hearts forever.”
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke of the Met’s Specialist Crime North unit described the attack as an “isolated incident” and acknowledged its impact on the local community. She assured residents of an increased police presence in the area and encouraged anyone with concerns to speak with officers.
