Man Strangles 4-Year-Old Stepdaughter in Mumbai, Dumps Body in Sea

Mumbai Police have arrested a 40-year-old man, Imran Shaikh, for allegedly killing his four-year-old stepdaughter and disposing of her body in the Arabian Sea. The horrifying incident came to light when the child’s body was discovered floating near Sassoon Dock in south Mumbai on Tuesday morning.
According to police officials, the girl had been reported missing from the Antop Hill area in Central Mumbai. Her mother Nazia, who works as a domestic help, and stepfather Shaikh had initially approached the police with a missing persons complaint.
A kidnapping case against an unknown person was registered, and officers began reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity. The footage showed the child in the company of her stepfather, raising suspicions about his involvement.
After locating the girl’s body, police detained Shaikh for questioning. During interrogation, he confessed to strangling the child and dumping her body into the sea. The motive behind the killing is still under investigation, but police suspect tensions between Shaikh and his wife may have played a role. This was Shaikh’s second marriage.
The case has shocked the local community and sparked outrage over the brutal killing of a young child. Further investigation is underway.
