“He Said He Should Be Hanged”: What Radhika Yadav’s Father Told His Brother After Killing Her

Radhika Yadav’s father, Deepak Yadav, has expressed deep remorse after allegedly killing his daughter, telling his elder brother that he deserves the harshest punishment, even the death penalty.

Speaking to reporters, Radhika’s uncle Vijay Yadav said the family is still in shock and unaware of what exactly led to the tragic incident. “Deepak loved his daughter immensely. None of us can understand what went wrong. When I spoke to him, he told me he had committed ‘kanya wadh’ (the killing of a daughter) and said he should be hanged for it,” Vijay shared.

Vijay also disputed the police claim that Radhika ran a tennis academy, which was cited as the source of conflict between father and daughter. “To my knowledge, there was no academy. She used to train children informally in different locations. It started when kids from the neighborhood began approaching her for lessons,” he clarified.

Radhika, a national-level tennis player, was reportedly shot at point-blank range by her father at their home in Gurugram’s Sushant Lok area on Thursday. Deepak Yadav was remanded to judicial custody on Saturday.

Police earlier stated that Radhika’s tennis academy had become a point of friction, with Deepak reportedly upset over being taunted by others for depending on her income. However, Vijay denied that Deepak was ever financially dependent on his daughter, saying, “He had substantial rental income and had spent crores on Radhika’s tennis career. Claims that he lived off her earnings are unfounded.”

He added, “If Deepak had spoken to me about his concerns, this could have been avoided. What happened is deeply wrong, and none of us in the family support it.”
