Pakistani Actor Humaira Asghar Found Dead in Karachi Apartment 9 Months After Her Death

In a deeply shocking incident, Pakistani actor Humaira Asghar Ali was discovered dead in her Karachi apartment — nearly nine months after her actual death. Her body, found in an advanced state of decomposition, came to light only after her landlord filed a complaint over unpaid rent.
Humaira’s flat had been unoccupied on her floor, and despite one balcony door being left open, no one noticed anything unusual. According to Arab News, by the time neighbors returned in February, any foul odor had long dissipated. Inside the flat, dried water pipes, rusted food containers, and expired food items suggested she had been dead for several months.
Authorities revealed her electricity was disconnected in October 2024 due to non-payment. There were no backup sources of power such as candles, further pointing to her death occurring shortly after her last utility payments. One official stated, “She likely died between the last bill payment and the disconnection of electricity.”
The initial post-mortem report, conducted by Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed, indicated she had been dead for at least a month. However, call records and additional evidence confirmed her last outgoing call was made in October 2024, aligning with when neighbors last saw her. Her social media activity also ceased in September 2024.
Initially, police stated her family had refused to claim the body, but her brother Naveed Asghar has now arrived in Karachi to take custody. Due to the advanced decomposition, DNA testing was required for identification. Naveed shared that Humaira had grown distant from the family after relocating to Karachi from Lahore seven years ago and hadn’t been home for over 18 months. He also questioned whether police had interviewed the landlord.
