Kolkata Law College Rape Accused Drank in Guard Room Post-Crime: Police

Kolkata:
Monojit Mishra, the main accused in the gangrape case involving a student of South Calcutta Law College, reportedly consumed alcohol in the college’s guard room with his two accomplices after committing the crime on June 25, a police official confirmed on Saturday.
The other accused in the case have been identified as Pramit Mukherjee and Zaib Ahmed. According to police, after the assault, the trio spent a significant amount of time in the guard room drinking, and also threatened the security guard, Pinaki Banerjee, instructing him to stay silent about the incident.
Following their time at the college, the three went to a roadside eatery (dhaba) on EM Bypass for dinner, and returned to their homes the next morning, investigators said.
The investigation also revealed that the day after the incident, on June 26, Monojit reached out to an influential contact in Deshapriya Park, South Kolkata — someone who had helped him before. However, realizing the seriousness of the situation, the individual advised him to walk away from the matter.
Monojit then approached his so-called “mentors” in search of an escape plan, the officer said. He was reportedly seen in various areas including Rashbehari, Deshapriya Park, Gariahat, Fern Road, and Ballygunge Station Road. Mobile tower data also placed him near Karaya police station during this time.
Further probe into Call Detail Records (CDRs) suggested that Monojit, Pramit, and Zaib had premeditated the crime, with frequent phone communications among them in the days leading up to the June 25 assault.
