Terrorist Eliminated in Joint Army-Police Operation in J&K’s Udhampur

In a coordinated operation named Operation Bihali, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police have neutralized a terrorist during an encounter in Basantgarh, Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. The White Knight Corps confirmed the killing, stating that the operation is still ongoing.

The operation was launched earlier today following actionable intelligence received by security forces. It comes amid heightened security measures ahead of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, for which 180 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed.

The 38-day pilgrimage to the 3,880-meter-high Amarnath shrine is scheduled to begin on July 3, with pilgrims traversing either the 48-km Pahalgam route in Anantnag or the shorter 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal.

This incident follows an earlier encounter on May 22 in Kishtwar, where a soldier lost his life and four terrorists were cornered. Just a week before that, six terrorists were gunned down in south Kashmir.

Security forces have intensified anti-terror operations across the region following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives. India responded to the attack by launching Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terrorist bases in Pakistan, including key Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed facilities.

In retaliation, Pakistan made multiple failed attempts to strike Indian military and civilian targets using drones and missiles over three consecutive days.
