Noida Man Dies in Cab Crash En Route to Airport; Family Blames Driver Fatigue

A 59-year-old man from Noida lost his life early Saturday morning in a tragic road accident after the cab he had booked reportedly crashed into a stationary tempo. The victim’s family alleges that the driver fell asleep behind the wheel.

The deceased, Rakesh Arora, a resident of Garima Vihar in Sector 35, had booked an Uber to reach the airport for a business trip to Bengaluru. He left his home at around 3:50 AM. Just minutes later, the WagonR cab collided with a stationary tempo near the toll plaza on the Delhi Noida Direct (DND) flyway.

According to police, they were alerted around 4:15 AM that someone was trapped inside a severely damaged vehicle. Both Arora and the driver, identified as 32-year-old Sudhir, were rushed to AIIMS. Arora was declared brought dead, while the driver is currently hospitalized.

“Doctors have stated the driver is unfit to give a statement at this time, and we are awaiting a final medical opinion. No eyewitnesses have come forward so far,” said a police official.

An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident. Uber has not issued a public statement regarding the accident.

The case highlights renewed concerns about driver fatigue and passenger safety in ride-hailing services.
