CBFC Asks Sitaare Zameen Par Makers To Include PM Modi’s Quote Before Film: Reports

Aamir Khan’s upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, set to release on June 20, was recently cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with a U/A 13+ certificate. However, new reports suggest that the CBFC made specific requests before giving the green light — including adding a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi immediately following the film’s opening disclaimer.

According to Bollywood Hungama, the film’s release faced uncertainty after the CBFC’s Examining Committee suggested certain changes that Aamir Khan reportedly found objectionable. Dissatisfied with the initial recommendations, the actor approached the Revising Committee, which is headed by renowned theatre personality and academic Waman Kendre.

After a fresh review, the Revising Committee not only approved the film but asked for a few modifications. These included:

  • Replacing the term ‘Michael Jackson’ with ‘Lovebirds’
  • Changing ‘Business Woman’ to ‘Business Person’
  • Removing a visual element containing the word ‘kamal’

Most notably, the committee also advised that the film should include a quote from Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the opening disclaimer, though the exact quote is not yet known.

After these revisions were implemented, Sitaare Zameen Par was granted certification without any cuts.

The film, directed by RS Prasanna and starring Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh, is being presented as a spiritual successor to Khan’s critically acclaimed 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The upcoming release has already seen a strong response in advance bookings, collecting over ₹1.03 crore and selling more than 39,000 tickets across India, even without block bookings.
