“Iran, Israel Should Strike Deal Like I Did With India, Pakistan”: Trump Claims Diplomatic Successes

New York:
Former US President Donald Trump has claimed that he could broker peace between Iran and Israel, drawing a parallel with what he described as his successful intervention between India and Pakistan.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said, “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal—just like I got India and Pakistan to make, in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks with two excellent leaders who quickly decided to STOP.”

Trump reiterated his long-standing claim that he prevented a potential war between India and Pakistan last month through diplomatic engagement and leveraging trade. This comes even as the Indian government has repeatedly stated that the ceasefire agreement between the two nations was a bilateral understanding, with no third-party involvement.

The Trump post follows recent hostilities between Iran and Israel, including Israeli strikes on Iranian military, missile, and nuclear infrastructure, and retaliatory missile attacks by Iran. The situation remains tense, with both sides issuing threats of further escalation.

Referring to his past presidency, Trump also claimed credit for de-escalating other international tensions, including the long-standing conflict between Serbia and Kosovo, and the Nile dam dispute between Egypt and Ethiopia. “There is peace, at least for now, because of my intervention,” Trump said.

He added, “Many calls and meetings are now taking place. I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK—the PEOPLE understand. MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!”

Regarding India and Pakistan, the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians had triggered a sharp escalation, with India launching “Operation Sindoor” targeting terror camps across the border. However, by May 10, both sides reportedly agreed to a ceasefire through communication between their Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs).

While Trump insists the ceasefire followed U.S. mediation, Indian officials maintain it was the result of direct military-to-military dialogue without external intervention.
