Emotional Apology in Bengaluru: Woman Bows to Auto Driver After Viral Clash

In a dramatic turn of events in Bengaluru, a woman named Pankhuri Mishra was arrested on Sunday after a video of her hitting an auto-rickshaw driver, Lokesh, with a slipper went viral across social media. The incident, which took place on Saturday, unfolded when Pankhuri, riding pillion on a two-wheeler with her husband, claimed the auto driver had run over her foot — a charge the driver strongly denied.
The argument quickly escalated when Lokesh began recording the altercation. This provoked Pankhuri, who snatched off her slipper and began thrashing him while angrily shouting, “Banaega video? Chal bana video,” challenging him in Hindi.
During the confrontation, Pankhuri was also seen making a phone call, claiming that the driver had misbehaved with her. Her husband, notably, remained on the bike and continued filming the incident.
Lokesh later said he started recording because the woman was speaking in Hindi rather than the local language, Kannada, and he wanted to document the argument for his safety.
However, after the situation cooled and the video drew widespread attention online, the couple met Lokesh again and expressed deep remorse. In an emotional moment, they bowed at his feet, asking for forgiveness.
“I apologise. I am pregnant. I was scared — what if something happened to my baby? That’s all I was thinking,” Pankhuri told Lokesh, visibly shaken and regretful.
Originally from Bihar, Pankhuri emphasized that she holds no resentment toward the people of Karnataka. “We love Bengaluru, we love the culture, and we love the people,” she said, trying to clarify her intentions amid rising tensions online.
She was later released on station bail. The incident has sparked broader conversations about public behavior, regional sensitivities, and how viral videos often shape public perception in an instant.
