Tragedy in Ballia: Young Mother Dies by Suicide After Marital Dispute Over Phone Use

In a heartbreaking incident from Mahathapar village in Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia district, a 28-year-old woman, Runi Verma, died after allegedly consuming poison following an argument with her husband over frequent phone use.
According to police, Runi and her husband, Dharmendra Verma, had been having repeated disagreements over her regular phone conversations with an unknown person. The situation escalated late Sunday night when Dharmendra reportedly asked her once again to stop using the phone. In a moment of distress, Runi is believed to have consumed poison inside their home.
She was rushed first to a community health centre and later referred to the district hospital, where she sadly passed away during treatment.
Runi leaves behind two young daughters — Roli (5) and Golu (3). The family and local community have been left in shock by the sudden loss.
The local SHO confirmed that the body has been sent for post-mortem, and a formal inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident is currently underway.
This tragic event highlights the growing emotional strain and mental health challenges faced by many individuals, often hidden behind domestic disagreements.
