IPL 2025 Set to Resume After Border Tensions Ease, BCCI To Release Revised Schedule Tonight

New Delhi:
After a week-long suspension due to escalating tensions at the India-Pakistan border, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly finalized a restart date, most likely by Saturday, with the revised schedule expected to be shared with franchises by Sunday night (May 11).

The IPL was paused with 16 matches remaining—12 league games and 4 playoffs—amid security concerns following the Pahalgam terror attack and India’s subsequent military action, Operation Sindoor. Now that both nations have agreed to a ceasefire, the tournament is back on track.

To ensure safety and smooth execution, the remaining matches will be shifted to three secure venues: Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

One of the more alarming incidents occurred during the PBKS vs DC match in Dharamshala, which had to be called off after just 10.1 overs due to drone and airstrike threats. Blackouts affected nearby areas including Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur. Thankfully, the evacuation of fans and movement of players to their hotels was handled smoothly and safely.

Most overseas players had returned to their home countries during the suspension, and the BCCI is working on arrangements to bring them back as the tournament window may be extended until May 30.

Cricket is poised to make a strong comeback, with all eyes now on the revised schedule and how teams adapt to the new venues.
