Hyderabad Doctor Arrested for Ordering Cocaine via WhatsApp: Shocking Drug Bust Involving Former Hospital CEO

Hyderabad:
In a startling development, Dr. Namrata Chigurupati, a former CEO of Omega Hospitals, has been arrested in Hyderabad for allegedly ordering cocaine worth Rs 5 lakh through WhatsApp.
The 34-year-old medical practitioner, who stepped down from her executive position six months ago, was caught red-handed while accepting a drug delivery from a courier. The delivery was arranged by a Mumbai-based supplier, Vansh Dhakkar, and executed by his associate, Balakrishna.
According to police officials, Namrata had contacted Vansh on WhatsApp and placed the drug order, transferring the payment digitally. She was arrested in Rayadurgam as Balakrishna handed over the consignment.
“A medical practitioner, Namrata, had ordered drugs from Vansh, who she knew personally. Balakrishna delivered the drugs, and the police caught them in the act,” said senior officer Venkanna.
During the bust, the police recovered 53 grams of cocaine, two mobile phones, and Rs 10,000 in cash. Both Namrata and Balakrishna have been taken into custody and booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Shockingly, during interrogation, Namrata allegedly confessed to having spent nearly Rs 70 lakh on drugs over time—a revelation that has left many in disbelief, especially given her professional background in healthcare.
She is currently in judicial custody as investigations continue.
