Delhi Auto Driver Jumps Into Yamuna After Argument With Landlady, Search Underway

In a tragic turn of events, a 49-year-old auto-rickshaw driver jumped into the Yamuna River early Sunday morning following a heated argument with his landlady. The incident occurred around 5:35 am near the Geeta Colony flyover.
According to police, the man, identified as Sohan Singh Nagi, was ferrying his landlady, Tara Devi (55), in his auto when an intense argument broke out between them. In a sudden act, Nagi stopped the vehicle near the flyover, exited, and jumped into the river before anyone could intervene.
A passerby, Rahul Kumar (36), witnessed the incident and promptly called the police. Emergency services, including divers and local police teams, rushed to the spot and launched a search operation, but Nagi’s body has not yet been recovered.
Tara Devi is being questioned to understand what led to the argument, though the exact cause remains unclear. Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and confirmed that further investigation is in progress.
The incident has shocked local residents, bringing to light the emotional and psychological distress individuals may face in their everyday lives.
