Court Declines Plea Against Robert Vadra Over Pahalgam Attack Remarks, Suggests Other Legal Routes

The Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench has refused to entertain a petition seeking action against Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, over his controversial comments following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

Vadra stirred a political controversy after reportedly suggesting that the Pahalgam attack—where 26 people, mostly tourists, lost their lives—may have targeted non-Muslims due to a perception among terrorists that Muslims are being mistreated in India.

The petition, filed by the Hindu Front for Justice and others, urged the court to direct the central government to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe Vadra’s remarks. It also called for legal action under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

However, a division bench of Justices Rajan Roy and Om Prakash Shukla declined to intervene, stating that the petitioners have other appropriate legal avenues to pursue their concerns.

The case has drawn sharp reactions on social media and in political circles, with critics accusing Vadra of communalizing a sensitive issue. Despite the court’s refusal to step in, the matter is likely to continue drawing attention in the days ahead.
