Engineering Graduate Held for Repeatedly Harassing Minister Pankaja Munde Over Phone

A 25-year-old engineering graduate has been arrested for allegedly harassing Maharashtra’s Environment Minister, Pankaja Munde, through persistent phone calls and messages, police said on Friday.
The accused, identified as Amol Chhaganrao Kale from Beed district, was traced and apprehended from Bhosri, near Pune, by the cyber wing of the Maharashtra police.
According to officials, Minister Munde—who is also a senior BJP leader—had been receiving a barrage of unsolicited calls and messages on her personal mobile number over the past few days. Concerned about the frequency and tone of the communication, a formal complaint was lodged with Maharashtra Cyber.
Following an investigation, police registered a case under sections 78 (stalking) and 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with applicable sections of the IT Act. The phone number used to contact the minister was traced back to Kale, who was then detained for questioning.
Authorities are now probing his intentions behind the repeated attempts to contact the minister
