Woman Gang-Raped Near Railway Station in Bihar’s Gopalganj, One Accused Arrested

In a deeply disturbing incident, a woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men near Sasamusa railway station in Bihar’s Gopalganj district early Monday morning.

The woman, who had been staying at her father’s house in Shyampur village to help with his medical treatment, was returning to Uttar Pradesh. Around 5 AM, while waiting for her train at Sasamusa station, she went to a nearby hand pump to fetch water. It was there that three unidentified men allegedly overpowered her, gagged her, and dragged her to a secluded area near the station, where they took turns assaulting her.

After committing the heinous crime, the men fled the spot, leaving the woman behind. Traumatised, she managed to return to her paralysed father and shared her ordeal with him.

Local villagers, upon hearing about the incident, immediately alerted the police. Officers swiftly reached the location, arranged a medical examination that confirmed the assault, and filed a case under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyay Sahita (BNS) at Kuchaykot police station.

Based on the woman’s description, the police have arrested one accused, identified as Abhishek Bind from Kuchaykot. He is currently being interrogated, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining two suspects.

Confirming the developments, Pranjal, Sadar SDPO, stated, “We have recorded the victim’s statement. One accused has been arrested, and we are working continuously to arrest the others.”
