Bundles of Fake ‘Reverse Bank of India’ Notes Found in Dandeli House, Police Hunt for Tenant

In a surprising discovery, Dandeli police in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district recovered several bundles of fake currency from a rented house in Gandhinagar Layout. The counterfeit Rs 500 notes, printed on glossy paper, carried bizarre inscriptions like “Reverse Bank of India” and “Movie Shooting Purpose Only,” with no governor’s signature and zeros in place of serial numbers.

The house belonged to Noorjan Junjuwadkara, who had rented it out to Arshad Khan, a native of Goa. After noticing that Arshad had been absent for over a month and finding the back door ajar, Noorjan grew suspicious and alerted the Dandeli City Police. Upon breaking the lock, officers found the stash of fake notes.

Dandeli Police have launched a full investigation. District Superintendent of Police M Narayan has directed a probe led by Deputy SP Shivanand NM to determine whether the notes were genuinely meant for film production or were being prepared for illegal circulation.

“We have summoned Arshad Khan for questioning. If he fails to appear, we will bring him in from his current location. A decision regarding registering an FIR will be taken after his interrogation,” said Deputy SP Shivanand.

Interestingly, Dandeli has seen similar incidents involving counterfeit notes in the past, adding weight to the ongoing investigation.
