Tragedy in Paradise: IB Officer Killed in Kashmir Terror Attack While Vacationing With Family

A family holiday turned into a nightmare when Manish Ranjan, an Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer from Hyderabad, was shot dead in front of his wife and children during a terror attack in Kashmir’s scenic Baisaran Valley, also known as ‘Mini Switzerland’.

Manish, originally from Bihar, was visiting Kashmir on Leave Travel Concession (LTC) with his family. The attack unfolded on Tuesday in Pahalgam’s popular tourist area, where several other vacationers had also gathered. The family’s peaceful trip turned into a horror when terrorists opened fire, claiming the lives of multiple innocent tourists.

Manish was serving in the ministerial section of the IB’s Hyderabad office. His death has sent shockwaves through his department, his hometown, and the entire nation.

Leaders from across the political spectrum expressed grief and outrage over the incident. Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy strongly condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act that cannot break the spirit of the Indian people. He urged the central government to take swift and stern action against those responsible.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu also voiced his anguish, calling the attack senseless and devastating. “My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, and I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” he wrote on social media.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan mourned the death of 27 tourists and injuries to many others, labeling the tragedy “extremely horrible.” He called for tighter coordination between the Jammu and Kashmir government and central forces to prevent such attacks.

BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao added his voice to the growing chorus, demanding justice for the victims’ families and condemning the violence in the strongest terms.

While the nation mourns the loss of lives, the attack has reignited concerns about security in the region, especially for tourists. As investigations continue, many are calling for stronger counter-terrorism measures and unwavering support for the victims and their families.

Manish Ranjan’s tragic death is a stark reminder of the dangers that still linger in paradise—and the price innocent lives continue to pay.
