“Neeraj Chopra Invites Rival-Friend Arshad Nadeem to India for Star-Studded Javelin Event”

India’s Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra is set to headline a special one-day javelin event this May in Bengaluru, and he’s reaching across borders to make it truly international. Among the top athletes invited is none other than Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem – a long-time rival on the field but also a respected friend.

Speaking to reporters on April 21, Neeraj confirmed that he had personally invited Arshad to the event, organised by JSW Sports in his name. “Yes, I have spoken to Arshad Nadeem,” Neeraj said. “He told me he’ll speak to his coach and then confirm.”

The possibility of Arshad competing in India adds a hopeful yet diplomatically delicate angle to the event, as participation from a Pakistani athlete will involve approvals from both countries.

Other javelin stars from around the globe have already confirmed their presence, including Olympic and world champions like Anderson Peters, Thomas Röhler, Yulius Yego, and Curtis Thompson.

India’s Rohit Yadav and a few other top national throwers will also compete alongside Neeraj, making this event a major moment for javelin in the country.

Originally planned for Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Haryana, the event was moved to Bengaluru’s Sree Kanteerava Stadium due to better lighting and broadcast capabilities. “The Haryana stadium had only 600 lux lighting, but we needed more for TV coverage,” Neeraj explained.

Neeraj also revealed that he had already received positive support from Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, clearing the way for a successful event.

The competition promises a unique blend of world-class rivalry, sportsmanship, and cross-border camaraderie — with fans now eagerly waiting to see if Arshad Nadeem will accept Neeraj’s heartfelt invitation.
