Justice Closing In: Rapist, Extortionist Among 3 Fugitives Brought Back to India from UAE by CBI

New Delhi:
In a major breakthrough for Indian law enforcement, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in collaboration with Interpol and UAE authorities, has successfully extradited three fugitives wanted for serious crimes, including the rape of a minor and extortion. The trio – Suhail Basheer, Tofik Najir Khan, and Aaditya Jain – were flown back to India to face trial for their alleged offenses.

Suhail Basheer, accused of raping a minor girl in Kerala in 2023, was tracked and geo-located in the UAE after evading authorities for months. A Red Notice was issued by Interpol at the CBI’s request in December 2024, which eventually led to his arrest and return. He was escorted by Kerala Police and landed at Cochin International Airport on April 2.

Tofik Najir Khan, wanted by Gujarat Police for cheating and criminal conspiracy, was similarly extradited following the issuance of a Red Notice in February 2025. He was handed over to a Gujarat Police team upon arrival in Cochin.

Aaditya Jain, accused of making extortion calls to wealthy businessmen in Rajasthan, was also brought back after a Red Notice was published against him on February 18, 2025. He was wanted in several criminal cases, including one registered at Kuchaman City Police Station in Didwana District.

The CBI’s International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU), in collaboration with the National Central Bureau (NCB) in Abu Dhabi and respective state police units, facilitated the return of all three fugitives.

An official noted that this is part of a larger ongoing effort, with over 100 such fugitives being brought back to India over the last few years thanks to CBI’s coordination through Interpol.

The return of these fugitives marks another firm step toward delivering justice and reinforces India’s resolve to hold criminals accountable—no matter how far they flee.
