Serial Snatcher Caught in Delhi After Years of Using a Stinky Escape Plan

New Delhi: A notorious chain snatcher and thief, Deepak, 27, who had repeatedly escaped police custody using an unusual and unhygienic trick, has finally been arrested in North Delhi’s Sadar Bazar area.

Wanted in multiple cases of knife attacks and mobile thefts, Deepak had developed a bizarre method to evade capture—defecating in his pants whenever the police tried to arrest him. The unbearable stench would force officers to step back, giving him a chance to flee.

However, on Monday night, a patrolling team identified him behaving suspiciously in the area. When confronted, he resorted to his old tactic, but this time, the officers were prepared. Equipped with masks and gloves, they ensured he had no way to escape and swiftly took him into custody.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Raja Banthia confirmed that Deepak had been on the run for years, slipping through law enforcement’s grasp multiple times. “This criminal has used this filthy method on numerous occasions, but we were ready this time,” Banthia stated.

During the arrest, officers also recovered a knife from Deepak, which he allegedly referred to as his “lucky knife.” A case has now been registered against him under the Arms Act, and further investigations are underway.

With his long streak of evasions finally put to an end, police believe the streets of Sadar Bazar are now a little safer.
