Lok Sabha to Introduce AI-Powered Tools and Chatbot for MPs to Access Parliamentary Records

New AI System to Provide Live Translations, Speech-to-Text, and Instant Rule Access
New Delhi:
In a major step towards modernizing parliamentary operations, Lok Sabha is set to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools that will enable live interpretation and transcription of debates in multiple languages. Additionally, an AI-powered chatbot will be developed to help MPs quickly access parliamentary rules and important documents.
The initiative, called “Sansad Bhashini,” is being developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday in the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
What Will AI Bring to Parliament?
The Sansad AI solution will introduce several key features to improve efficiency and accessibility:
AI-Driven Live Translations: Parliamentary debates, agenda files, and committee reports will be translated into regional languages, ensuring wider accessibility.
AI-Powered Chatbot: MPs and officials will get instant responses on parliamentary rules and procedures, making research and documentation faster.
Speech-to-Text Transcription: Debates will be automatically transcribed in real-time, making records easier to access and reference.
Summarization of Discussions: Lengthy parliamentary debates will be condensed into key points, helping in quicker decision-making.
Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed confidence that this initiative will revolutionize parliamentary processes, making governance more efficient, technology-driven, and accessible.
By integrating AI into its workflow, Lok Sabha aims to create a smarter, multilingual, and more accessible parliamentary system, benefiting both lawmakers and citizens alike.
