Violent Attack Inside Golden Temple Lodging Leaves Five Injured

A shocking incident unfolded inside the Golden Temple premises in Amritsar on Friday when a man, identified as Zulfan, allegedly attacked pilgrims with iron pipes at Shri Guru Ramdas Sarai, a lodging facility for visitors. At least five people sustained injuries, with one victim in critical condition and currently undergoing treatment in the ICU.
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) swiftly intervened and handed the accused over to the police. “There was a clash inside the Golden Temple premises, and people from both sides were injured, including SGPC workers. Legal action will follow,” confirmed Kotwali SHO Sarmel Singh.
The injured were rushed to Guru Ramdas Hospital, where they are receiving medical care. Dr. Jasmeet Singh stated, “One patient is in critical condition and has received stitches. A CT scan will be performed once he stabilizes. The other four are in stable condition.”
This incident comes months after a high-profile assassination attempt on former Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal at the Golden Temple in December 2024. In that case, the attacker, linked to past terror-related crimes, was swiftly overpowered.
The latest attack has raised serious concerns over security at one of the holiest Sikh shrines, prompting calls for stricter vigilance to protect devotees and visitors.
