“We Will Not Bow Down”: Manish Sisodia Responds as President Approves FIR in Classroom Construction Case

New Delhi:
Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia has strongly reacted to the approval of an FIR against him and his party colleague Satyendar Jain, saying he will not back down despite multiple cases being filed against him. His statement came after President Droupadi Murmu gave the go-ahead for the registration of an FIR in connection with an alleged ₹2,000 crore scam in the construction of classrooms in Delhi government schools.
Sisodia Calls Out BJP
In a statement on Thursday, Sisodia addressed the BJP-led central government, asserting that filing cases against AAP leaders—including himself, Satyendar Jain, Arvind Kejriwal, and Atishi—would not make them surrender. “File as many cases as you want. We will not bow down before the BJP,” he declared.
He also took a swipe at the BJP over its unfulfilled election promises. “Tomorrow is Holi. Where are the free gas cylinders you promised to Delhi families? When will you fulfill your promise of ₹2,500 per month for the women of Delhi?” Sisodia questioned.
Background of the Alleged Scam
The case dates back to 2019 when BJP leader Harish Khurana and former AAP MLA Kapil Mishra (now a minister in the Delhi government) filed a complaint, alleging financial irregularities in the construction of school buildings and classrooms.
According to a report by the Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the scam amounts to approximately ₹2,892.65 crore. The report claims that around 12,748 classrooms were built at highly inflated costs under the Delhi government’s education infrastructure projects.
In 2022, Delhi’s vigilance directorate recommended an investigation into the matter and submitted its findings to the chief secretary. The case has now gained momentum with the President’s approval for the FIR, intensifying the political battle between AAP and the BJP.
As the investigation moves forward, all eyes will be on the developments in this high-profile case and its impact on Delhi’s political landscape.
