British Tourist Alleges Rape at Delhi Hotel, Two Men Arrested
New Delhi: A British woman, who had traveled to India for a holiday in Maharashtra and Goa, has accused a man she met on Instagram of raping her at a hotel in Delhi’s Mahipalpur. The accused, identified as Kailash, has been arrested, while his friend Wasim has been charged with molestation.
According to police, the woman had been in touch with Kailash on Instagram and invited him to join her during her trip. When he said he couldn’t travel, he asked her to visit Delhi instead. She arrived in the capital on Tuesday and checked into a hotel in Mahipalpur, where she later met Kailash and his friend. That night, she alleges, Kailash raped her.
The following morning, she approached Vasant Kunj police station and filed a complaint. Authorities have since informed the British High Commission, which is providing assistance to the victim.
Police revealed that Kailash works at a private firm and that he struggled to communicate in English, often relying on Google Translate to converse with the woman. The case is under investigation, and officials have assured that strict action will be taken.
