Lalu Prasad and Family Summoned in Land-for-Jobs Case, Court Hearing on March 11

New Delhi: Former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, along with his wife and children, has been summoned by a Delhi court in connection with the ongoing land-for-jobs case. Special Judge Vishal Gogne has directed the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief, his wife Rabri Devi, sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, and daughters Misa Bharti and Hema Yadav to appear before the court on March 11.
The case revolves around allegations that during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister (2004-2009), several candidates were given Group D jobs in the Indian Railways in exchange for transferring land parcels to his family members. The chargesheet claims that this was done with the involvement of his aides Bhola Yadav and R.K. Mahajan, along with railway officials who have also been named as accused.
The court, after reviewing the evidence, found sufficient grounds to summon all 76 accused in the case. Judge Gogne noted that substantial time had already been spent on the investigation, urging the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to expedite the summons process.
The CBI had registered the case on May 18, 2022, and after years of investigation, multiple chargesheets have been filed. With the court taking cognizance of the case, the legal battle for Lalu Prasad and his family is set to continue.
