IIT Patna Student Dies in Tragic Incident, Investigation Underway

Patna: A heartbreaking incident unfolded at IIT Patna, where a third-year student, Rahul Lavari, lost his life in what appears to be a case of suicide. Rahul, a native of Hyderabad, was pursuing Computer Science and Mathematics at the institute.
According to reports, he allegedly slit his wrist before jumping from the seventh floor of the hostel building. Fellow students and college authorities rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The police have launched an investigation to understand the circumstances leading to this tragic event. Officers have recovered his mobile phones, laptop, and other belongings, which have been sent for forensic analysis. Authorities are also examining his WhatsApp chats and speaking with his friends to determine any possible reasons behind the incident.
Danapur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Pankaj Kumar Mishra stated, “At first glance, it appears to be a suicide case, but we are conducting a thorough investigation. A forensic team has also collected blood samples from the scene.”
