Maharashtra: Fire at Reliance Plant in Raigad Claims One Life, Six Injured

Mumbai, February 13 – A tragic fire broke out at Reliance Industries Limited’s (RIL) plant in Raigad district, Maharashtra, leading to the death of one worker and injuring six others, police reported on Thursday.

According to a police official, the incident occurred on Wednesday evening at the Patalganga Linear Alkyl Benzene (LAB) plant. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and a statement from the company is still awaited.

The deceased has been identified as Digvijay Kumar Rambahadur Singh, aged 36, who suffered severe burns and succumbed to his injuries. Singh was from Bihar and was working at the RIL Patalganga plant with Rotostat Services Private Limited.

The six injured workers have been identified as Manoj Kumar, Sunny Kumar Singh (24), Arun Kumar Ramswaroop (30), Balram (43), Sarvesh Kumar Nandlal (27), and Sanjay Upredas (26). All of them are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. They sustained serious burn injuries and were immediately rushed to the National Burns Centre in Navi Mumbai for treatment.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the fire. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Rasayani Police Station based on a complaint filed by a security officer from RIL.

The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at industrial plants, and the community is awaiting further details from Reliance Industries Limited regarding the tragic accident.
