Comedian Pranit More Assaulted Over Joke on Actor Veer Pahariya – 12 Booked

Stand-up Show Turns Violent as Group Attacks Comedian in Solapur

Stand-up comedian Pranit More was allegedly attacked by a group of 10 to 12 people in Maharashtra’s Solapur district after making jokes about actor Veer Pahariya. The incident took place after his performance on Sunday, leading to a police case being filed following a complaint from the restaurant owner where the show was held.

According to the complaint, the group, angered by More’s jokes about Veer Pahariya, brutally assaulted him, leaving him injured. More’s team shared a statement on Instagram, claiming he was punched and kicked repeatedly. However, when the Solapur police summoned More to record his statement, he did not appear, officials reported on Wednesday.

Veer Pahariya Responds

Reacting to the incident, actor Veer Pahariya, grandson of former Maharashtra CM Sushilkumar Shinde, condemned the attack. In his Instagram story, he wrote:

“I am truly shocked and saddened by what happened to Comedian Pranit More. I want to make it absolutely clear—I had no involvement in this, and I strongly condemn any form of violence. As someone who has always taken trolling in stride, laughed along with it, and shown love even to my critics, I would never encourage or support harm towards anyone, let alone someone from the same creative fraternity.”

The incident has sparked debates about freedom of speech and artistic expression, with many questioning whether comedians should fear backlash for their jokes. Meanwhile, the police continue to investigate the case.
